SOL
OUTDOOR LEARNING
Homeschool support for K-12 learners of all neurotypes
About Sol and its Founder
Sol is a science and outdoor learning program designed for home learners and schools. Our approach focuses on experiential, place-based education, guided by the seasons, nature, and the unique interests of each child. While science and outdoor education are at the heart of what we do, we embrace all subjects, tailoring learning experiences to meet the needs of every student.

We offer personalized support for homeschoolers in one-on-one or small learning pods that adhere to the BC curriculum or based on the interests of your learner. Our programs welcome children of all neurotypes. We're happy to collaborate with additional support workers (Behaviour Consultants, SLP, OT etc.) and can accept any funding sources available to families.

Sol was founded by Sharee Dubowits, a local mama of three wonderful girls and a passionate nature enthusiast. With a background in fish, wildlife and recreation, Sharee's path naturally evolved into education. She gained valuable experience as an educator at Squamish Nature Learners (SNL), where she found the perfect blend of her love for science and teaching. After her time at SNL, she worked as a Behaviour Support Worker in the community until the organization closed. Today, Sharee leads Sol's education programs and provides dedicated support for home learners of all ages. She looks forward to continuing her work with families and schools, fostering a deep connection to nature and lifelong learning.

Our Team
Catie is an educator with a passion for outdoor learning, connection, and inclusive practice. Having grown up in Squamish, she has always been fascinated by the outdoors and the opportunities it offers for exploration and learning. She is currently completing her Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) diploma.
She has experience working with children of diverse neurotypes, supporting both one-to-one and group environments. Catie is committed to creating inclusive spaces where all children feel valued and supported.
She looks forward to building meaningful connections with children, families, and the community through her work.

Our Space
The Sol Outdoor Learning space is nestled in the quiet Valleycliffe neighbourhood of Squamish, BC. Surrounded by stunning views of the Stawamus Chief and Slhanay mountains, the space features a large backyard and abundant garden areas used for hands-on learning. Our gardens include a native plant nursery, offering learners opportunities to connect with local ecosystems and explore nature-based education.
Our schoolhouse is available for all learners and pods to use. When needed, our team is also happy to bring our programming to a space of your choosing, allowing learning to happen in environments that best support the student.

Our Programs
Small-group learning pods designed to foster both social connection and personalized learning, tailored to the unique needs and interests of the children involved. Families are welcome to form their own pods, or we can assist in creating a supportive group that aligns with your child's learning journey.
Individual homeschool support sessions, thoughtfully tailored to your child's unique needs and interests. We provide one-on-one support, whether as a long-term solution or as a bridge until a suitable learning pod becomes available.
In collaboration with Create Makerspace, we offer Applied Design and Skills Training / Arts pods that integrate a wide variety of techniques, including pottery, wood-working, digital fabrication, robotics/electronics, cultural offerings and more!
Join us for our July and August adventure summer camps, where children explore forests, rivers, lakes, and oceansides through exciting activities. Each camp is filled with games, music, arts and crafts, and plenty of hands-on nature discovery!
